“We’re making it up as we go” [Dean and Cas through the seasons]
image CAN I JUST SAY SOMETHING
I’ve always maintained that Destiel has been canon since Mary Winchester told Dean (while still in her womb) that angels were watching over him. It’s been canon since Cas pulled Dean out of hell. It’s been canon since Cas gave everything for Dean. It’s been canon since Dean overturned purgatory looking for Cas. And it’s been canon since Dean and Cas pretty much renounced God and turned to each other.

The whole appeal of Destiel is that they have this certain je ne sais quoi between them that is definitely deeper and more profound than most other relationships. Their bond transcends sex and “I love you’s”. It transcends physical intimacy and romanticism. Their bond is “I kept your trenchcoat for you”, “I need you”, “I’ll always choose you”, “I’ll die for you” and “I’ll give up everything for you”.

Having sex with someone doesn’t always automatically make that someone the most important thing in your life. Having sex with someone doesn’t automatically cancel out every meaningful relationship you’ve ever had thus far.

So, if you’re going to force Dean and Cas out of their “comfort zone” or “normal zone” (which is personal space distance bordering on intimate space distance without actually touching) by saying that you want them to make out or say “I love you” or some sappy shit that they would never say to each other because that would be out of character, just because you want to prove to the world that you’re not delusional and that there IS something going on there…
I’m going to request you not to do that, because I think that is a petty reason to want that and is not worth the compromise in their current relationship.

Dean and Cas’ relationship is undefined,
and can never be defined because they don’t fit into any labels.
Because much like the two of them, their relationship breaks all the rules and norms and stereotypes.
And that’s what’s so beautiful about them.
